The film has Mithila Palkar, Irrfan Khan and Dulquer Salmaan playing the lead roles. This is the debut Bollywood project of both, Dulquer and Palkar, who are popular stars in Malayalam and Marathi film industries respectively.

The trailer is a little over two minutes long, and gives out several clues to the plot. Avinash (Dulquer), an IT employee in Mumbai, has to carry his father’s dead body to his home town in Kerala, and accompanying him is Shaukat (Irrfan Khan), a jolly-good-fellow with a quirky sense of humour. When they reach Ooty, another person joins the trip – a college-goer named Tanya (Mithila Palkar). The film also stars Kriti Kharbanda and Amala Akkineni in pivotal roles.

The highlights of the trailer are the striking chemistry between the actors, and the stunning landscape. In Chef, a 2017 comedy starring Saif Ali Khan and Padma Priya, the characters had taken a similar road trip from Kochi to Goa, through the Konkan coast.

Actor Irrfan Khan, diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor, is undergoing treatment in London.

This year, he also made his Telugu debut through Mahanati, playing the role of yesteryear star Gemini Ganesan. Mithila Palkar is one of India’s most popular YouTube star who has to her credits web shows like Little Things.

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Priti Rathi Gupta, the film is set to release in theatres on August 3. DoP Avinash Arun, who worked in several indie films like Masaan and Killa, is the cinematographer of Karwaan, and a bunch of composers (Prateek Kuhad, Anurag Saikia, SlowCheetah, Shwetang Shankar and Imaad Shah) score the tunes.
