The list, an eclectic mix from several languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Manipuri and Sanskrit, includes the upcoming project of Geetu Mohandas whose directorial Liars’ Dice was India’s official submission for the 2014 Foreign Language Oscar. The latest film, Inshah Allah, traces the journey of a little boy who leaves his home in Lakshadweep in search of his older brother in Mumbai.

The film, earlier this year, had bagged the Global Filmmaking award at the Sundance Film Festival, making Geetu the only Asian to receive it. The Sundance Institute Global Filmmaking Awards are given to emerging filmmakers from World Cinema on the basis of their next screenplay.
