The trailer of Breathe, an Amazon Prime original series, is out and it’s unsettling.
R Madhavan plays Danny Mascarenhas, whose son with a rare blood type and a breathing problem, has only a few months to live.
Desperate and broken, Madhavan’s character looks at his son, as the little boy says, “Dadda, I don’t want to die.”
And so, the loving father embraces his dark side, a trait that he probably didn’t know existed. “Jab kisi parent ko yeh pata chalta hai ki uske bacche ka future daav pe hai, toh woh uske liye kuch bhi kar sakta hai. Zaroorat pade, woh animal or monster bhi ban sakta hai,” he say. [A parent can do anything, if their child’s future is in jeopardy. If need be, they can become an animal or monster too.]
He shoots, he breaks open a person’s head with a massive rock, and does a lot of other heinous acts. One by one, organ donors are murdered.
Following the similar narrative is Amit Sadh’s story: Kabir, a police officer, is put in charge of finding the murderer. Thus, begins a cat-and-mouse game.
Directed by Mayank Sharma, the series will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and have eight episodes. Apart from Madhavan and Amit Sadh, the psychological thriller also has Sapna Pabbi in the lead. The series will be out on January 26.
