Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has confirmed that the Hindi adaptation of American sitcom Modern Family is still on. The initial announcement was made in 2015, and there was a lot of speculation over the years that the Indian adaptation might have been shelved.

However, Kapoor appears keen on making this series. Speaking to Mid-Day, he said he would focus on the show after completing other projects. “The contracts are all done, and I can proudly say that everything is on paper now. We will lock everything by the year-end and, hopefully, start rolling by early next year,” he said.

This marks Kapoor’s second stint at Indianising an original American show – he previously adapted popular thriller 24 for the Indian audience. The show completed two seasons and a third is in the pipeline.

Modern Family is a 22-Primetime Emmy Award-winning American mockumentary sitcom focussing on the lives of dysfunctional families, the Pritchetts and the Dunphys.
