“Initial talks are on to remake Kanchana, the first in Muni franchisee in Bollywood and not Kanchana 2 as reported in some media. Akshay Kumar has evinced interest. I am in the process of fine-tuning the script as of now,” Lawrence told Deccan Chronicle.

It was announced last year that Bigg Boss Tamil contestant and actress Oviya has joined the cast of Kanchana 3. While Muni had Vedhika, and Kanchana featured Raai Lakshmi, Kanchana 2 starred Tapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen.

Lawrence had earlier told Silverscreen, “There may not be any hero, I am considering a lead female star. I am also retaining those who are relevant like Kovai Sarala madam who played my mother, Devadarshini, Manobala, and Sreeman in the fourth part as well. Just like Kanchana which addressed transgender issues, in the fourth part, I have taken a different social issue.”

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of PadMan on February 9. PadMan, directed by R Balki and starring Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, and Sonam Kapoor, is the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, who invented a low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has initiated awareness movement on menstrual hygiene.

Akshay Kumar is also a part of Shankar’s 2.0 with superstar Rajinikanth.
