Akshay Kumar has apologised for violating the code of conduct that applies to the Indian flag, after he held it upside down recently, and faced criticism on social media.
Indian Express reports that the actor was in London, part of the Toilet – Ek Prem Katha promotions, and went to Lord’s to cheer the Women In Blue playing the finals against England in the ICC Women’s World Cup Cricket. To cheer the Indian team, Akshay Kumar waved the Tricolor at the team, and posted the photo on Twitter. It has since been deleted.
Akshay was criticized for holding the flag upside down, a violation of the Flag Code that governs how the flag can be hoisted.
Akshay later tweeted:
