An ad-film set in Jaipur, Rajasthan, was ransacked yesterday for recreating the “feel” of Pakistan.
According to a First Post report, a Mumbai-based ad company was in Jaipur to shoot for the car brand, Volkswagen Polo. The shooting was taking place at Chandni Chowk, near the City Palace of Jaipur, and the company is said to have put up sign-boards in Urdu on local buildings and in some areas. Some of the signboards read: Welcome to Lahore, Karachi Chai Wala and Lahore Sweets – the ad company’s idea of recreating Pakistan. These were destroyed by a religious outfit.
A case is yet to be filed by the crew members and no official statement has been released. Around 40 members from the outfit named Darohar Bachao Samiti (who work on preserving temples) have been allegedly involved in vandalising and destroying the sets.

This isn’t an isolated incident in the state of Rajasthan, as previously, Bollywood director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was assaulted on the sets of his upcoming movie, Padmavati. The Karni Sena accused the director of portraying a scene in the film which hinted at an intimate relationship between Rani Padmini and Allaudin Khilji. The team has repeatedly denied any such scenes being a part of the movie.
