Aamir Khan: I Compete With Myself, Not SRK, Salman, And Akshay

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has said he is not in competition with anyone in the industry, although the “great work” of his fellow actors does inspire him. The 51-year-old actor said, “I’m only competing with myself. I don’t compete with Shah Rukh (Khan), Salman (Khan), Akshay (Kumar) or anyone. However, when my colleagues do great work, it always inspires me.”

When asked about his favorite films that feature other actors, Aamir mentioned a few Shahrukh Khan movies.“I really liked many of Shah Rukh’s films, especially Chak De! India, Swades, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge),” he said.

He also said he was overwhelmed by Dangal‘s success. The film has crossed the Rs. 350 crore mark at the box-office. He said, “I am amazed by the reaction that Dangal has received. People have loved the film so much. It is very rare to get such kind of a reaction.”

Dangal is a biopic based on the life of real-life wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters, Geeta and Babita Phogat (played by Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra respectively). The performances of the debutantes have received rave reviews from critics and movie-goers alike. 

The actor will be next seen along with Amitabh Bachchan in Thugs of Hindostan, which is slated for a 2018 Diwali release.
