While they look like they’re in love, it’s revealed that it is, after all, a love story shared between a father and son. A father, played by Bachchan, sends his son, played by Kapoor, to an old age home, where for once we witness a role-reversal of sorts – the older generation taking a backseat from all worries while the younger generation frets over the littlest of things, just like a parent.

Billed as an ‘ageless comedy’, the film is directed by Umesh Shukla and is based on playwright Saumya Joshi’s well-known Gujarati play by the same name. Bachchan plays the role of 102-year-old man living life to the fullest, while Kapoor plays a 75-year-old man.

The two actors, who are in reality just 10 years apart, last starred in the fantasy superhero film Ajooba in 1991. The two, in the past, have played friends and brothers on screen.

Speaking about the film, Bachchan in a press release, is quoted saying: “Teaming up with Chintu ji after so many years, after so many successful historic films, has been the greatest joy during 102 Not Out – a novel story, competent direction and a most qualified crew, has made the experience even greater. I know the country loves the younger, fresh and vibrant new generation – as must it should deservedly, but who ever said the ‘oldies’ are not capable to do similar? We know you may not love us, but given a chance we shall not disappoint you either .. and that is as immodest as I can get.”

The film, bankrolled by Sony Pictures International Productions, is slated for a May 4, 2018 release.
