Anushka Sharma takes to twitter to announce the release date of her upcoming film, Phillauri. The movie, directed by debutant director Anshai Lal, is scheduled to release on 31 March 2017.

Anushka Sharma plays the lead female role in the movie opposite Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanjh of Udja Punjab fame. Suraj Sharma from Life of Pi will be paired with model/actress Mehreen Pirzada. A romantic-comedy film, the movie’s title refers to the residents of the Phillaur town in Punjab.
Anushka Sharma, in her interview to Indian Express said, “Phillauri has a unique premise. It took almost 100 years, a crazy Punjabi wedding and rank strangers to complete this love story, and that’s the crux of the film.”
The movie marks the second production venture of the actress. She made her debut as a producer with 2015 thriller NH 10.

Diljit Dosanjh has tweeted that the movie co-produced by Fox Star Studios, is “colourful, crazy and emotional love story”. Dosanjh will be seen playing a lead role for the first time in Hindi cinema, in this movie.
Anushka Sharma was last seen in Salman Khan starrer Sultan. Her next movie in the pipeline is Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Aishwarya Rai and Ranbir Kapoor. It was reported earlier, that she will be seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan in an Imtiaz Ali movie soon.
