Kamal Haasan attended a DMK event on Thursday, which was also attended by Rajinikanth. The event was the 75th anniversary celebrations of DMK’s mouth piece Murasoli in Chennai. While them attending the event fueled rumours of their political aspirations, Haasan’s speech suggested otherwise.
“I received a telegram from him (M Karunanidhi) in 1983 asking me why I shouldn’t join the DMK. I folded it and kept with me. Till now, I haven’t responded to it either,” he said. The actor also spoke of the Dravidian ideology and how it is a pan-Indian movement.
“I want to make a point to those who say that Dravidianism is confined to Tamil Nadu or southern parts. It has embraced the entire nation. It was pushed here from the Indus Valley civilisation gradually. It’s a pan-Indian movement.”
