Sathru

Directed by debutant Naveen Nanjundan, this film is a cop thriller starring Kathir and Srushti Dange in the lead. For the first time, Kathir plays a commercial role. It is produced by Dilli Babu under the banner of Milestone Movies, who earlier produced Raatsasan and Marakatha Naanayam. Pawan, Suja Varunee, Neelima, Ponvannan, Marimuthu and others star in pivotal roles.

Laguparan of Raatinam fame plays the antagonist. Music for the film is composed by Amrish, with lyrics by Kabilan, Karky and Sorko. Cinematography is by Mahesh Muthuswami. The stunts are choreographed by Vicky, and Prasanna GK is the editor.

Talking about the film, actor Kathir earlier told Silverscreen“The lead character in Sathru is a cop, but a cop who is different, not like the ones in films like Singam 3. This film depicts many incidents that have parallels in real life, but it is not based on any specific incident. It is inspired by various other incidents.”

Boomerang

Directed by R Kannan of Jayamkondan fame, Boomerang is an action-thriller starring Atharvaa and Megha Akash in the lead. The film also features Sathish, RJ Balaji, Induja Ravichandran, Suhasini Maniratnam and J Mahendran in pivotal roles. It is said that the film will deal with issues like NEET, social media-led agitations, and how politicians stall decision-making in a democracy. The actor will be seen playing an ambitious youngster who fights for a social cause. He has three different looks in the film. In one of them he is completely bald, and for the other an elaborate prosthetic procedure was done.

Talking about the film at the audio launch, director Kannan said, “Boomerang will be the second movie in recent times to deal with the subject of agriculture after Kadaikutty Singam. We have to get down to the fields and work instead of voting and waiting for the politicians to bring about change.”
