The Weekly Roundup : Salony Photoshoot, Parthieban Interview & More (August 10 To 16, 2014)

 Sunday

Sunday began Salony ke saath. We spent days with the Sarabham actress in a tropical location (read : a hotel with a swimming pool) capturing impossibly good images. After an incredible afternoon siesta, we wrote some stuff : about the recent addition to the Masss team and ofcourse, the music rain in August.

Silverscreen Special of the Day : Obviously, the Salony Luthra Photoshoot. We’re proud of this one. And we know it shows.

Monday

Director Gokul finally gave us a name for his upcoming project with Karthi, which made us pleased because we were so not looking forward to calling it the ‘Karthi – Gokul untitled movie’. Vishal the red man (get it?) launched his own music label. So with his own production house and now a music label, he can pretty much make and sell films the way he wants to; the trailer of Jiiva’s long in the making Yaan finally got done. Also, Jayam Ravi became a dad again. This time too, the Kadavuls that be blessed him with a boy.

Silverscreen Special of the Day: An exclusive interview with Anirudh. Where we found out that he was basically a shy type potential IIT boy who went on to become the dreamboat of young girls of the Tamil persuasion. Read it all in The Young Favourite.

Tuesday

We woke up to the news that the original Mrs Avvai Shanmughi – Robin Williams had passed away. Such a sad, sad day. Asha Sharath – the dragon mom from the original Drishyam signed on to do the same role in the Tamil version and Vadivelu announced his new film. This time too, the comedian is sticking to the past.  Yuvan spoke to us. Like..face to face. Really.

Silverscreen Special of the Day: We speak to R Parthiban and he answers in radical aphorisms. Our exclusive interview with the Path Breaker.

Wednesday

Prakash Raj had a close shave early in the morning; The Nanbenda team were barely in town for a few minutes before they decided to go on another vacation..err..schedule. This time its the land of the discount price ‘goods’ – Pondicherry. Raju Murugan, he of the Cuckoo fame, denied rumours of him directing Dhanush for his next film and Keerthi Suresh, who looks remarkably like her mom (actress) Menaka, will make her Silverscreen debut with Vikram Prabhu.

Silverscreen Special of the Day: So Abhishek Bachchan was in town. With Chetan Bhagat. And Madhavan. We took pictures, of all of them. See it here.

Thursday

Everybody’s favourite actress Jyothika announced her return to the films and we got some exclusive info on the Tamil remake of Drishyam. Also, we heard that Lingaa is definitely going to release on December 12. Where did we hear this? Well, from the Superstar himself. Naturally.  Trisha got another tattoo. Actually, a series of tattoos. Fake ones.

Silverscreen Special of the Day: Santosh Sivan tells us everything, but it feels like he’s painting. From Anjaan to farming, everything you need to know about the cinematographer in Life, Love and Beyond.

Friday

Jai Hind was on the telly this Friday, so we didn’t do much. Or did we? AR Rahman launched an app for fans to keep in touch with him; the painter to the stars, AP Sreedhar did what he does best. He made paintings. AL Vijay’s ode to vegan living will be remade, in the lands of the Hyderabadi Biriyani and Butter Chicken respectively. Suseendhiran’s Jeeva was wrapped up and Vairamuthu got an international honour for his Moondraam Ulaga Por.

Saturday

You’ll be seeing double for the next few months. After Lingaa, Kaththi, and Anjaan, it is now Karthi’s turn to do dual roles for his upcoming film; Dhanush will go mute for his role in Shamitabh; The Purampokku team launched their first look teaser and told nobody about it. So it was a surprise for literally everybody. Also, AR Rahman will go live on a FM channel to promote his Kaaviya Thalaivan and Soori gets to romance Kaadhal fame Sandhya for Kathukutty.

Silverscreen Special of the Day : We watched three films this weekend for you, dear reader(s?) and we also wrote reviews about it. We loved Kathai Thiraikkathai Vasanam Iyakkamliked Snehavin Kadhalargal and thought the stylish Anjaan could have done with a little more substance.
