Five Songs By ‘Hiphop Tamizha’ Adhi We’re Listening To On His Birthday

Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi At The 'Mr.Local' Press Meet

Singer-composer-actor Hiphop Tamizha Adhi has grown from a small independent music artist, to the composer he is today, in a rather short time. As he turns 30, here’s a look at five songs we’re listening to on his birthday.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T

Pazhagihkalaam — Aambala, 2015

His debut film as a composer turned out to be extremely lucky for him with this song that topped all charts back then. The robotic voice and the simple lyrics made the song all the more big. Aambala is a Sundar C film starring Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Ramya Krishnan, Prabhu, Santhanam, and Sathish.

Theemai Dhaan Vellum — Thani Oruvan, 2015

A background score and song that complemented the freshly minted Jayam Ravi-Aravind Swami rivalry. All I ever heard from people back then was  ‘I am not bad, just evil’. Thani Oruvan is a Mohan Raja film also starring Nayanthara, Ganesh Venkatraman, Vamsi Krishna, and Jayaprakash.

Vaadi Pulla Vaadi — Meesaya Murukku, 2017

A song that brims with love and pain. He’s said that it’s a song based on of his own life, and has lent his soul to the song. Although it released as a single, it later also featured in his debut film (when he also turned director). It starred Aathmika, RJ Vigneshkanth, Vivek, Anbu Thasan and Sha Ra.

Neeyum Naanum — Imaikka Nodigal, 2018

A peppy melody that talks about the love a man holds for his better half. Just when you think it’s too melodious, Adhi surprises you with some wacky tunes to balance it. Imaikka Nodigal is an Ajay Gnanamuthu film starring Atharvaa, Raashi Khanna, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak.

Hi Sonna Pothum — Comali, 2019

A throwback song about a boy and his crush in the 90s. It weaves in golis (marble), ice lollies, roll caps, ink bottles, and cycles… things that are not only nostalgic but also local. Comali is a Pradeep Ranganathan film starring Jayam Ravi, Kajal Aggarwal, Samyuktha Hegde, KS Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, and Sha Ra.
