The much-awaited Deadpool 2 movie is out in theatres and the Marvel Cinematic Universe created a funny charismatic, dark and an irrelevant Superhero who leads his squad to glory. Well, some part of it is true. For a Superhero, it is confirmed to have a cool background music like Batman or Spiderman has, so for Deadpool, there’s not just one, all the official soundtrack that featured in the movie can be basically considered as Deadpool’s Superhero background music.
By the release of the movie’s trailer, we started to hum along with the lyrics of Air Supply’s song All Out of Love and thought ‘yes classic rock movies with softcore voice will be the highlight of the movie’ and we were terribly betrayed. The films grotesque scenes were boosted with the usage of songs. Deadpool 2 score is first ever to get a Parental Advisory Warning, so we can imagine the lyrics.
Starting from Celine Dion’s “Ashes” Deadpool stars to mock the whole system of Superhero franchise. The song that comes in as the titles is similar to the James Bond movie Skyfall. In Skyfall Adele sings an emotional rendition to the death of James Bond and here the situation is almost similar. Deadpool, at the very beginning of the movie horribly kills himself and in the title part he rembles quite like James Bond from Skyfall.

Deadpool 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack features two high-reaching originals: Céline Dion’s “Ashes” and Diplo, French Montana and Lil Pump’s collective effort “Welcome to the Party.” That’s hardly all, however. The Official soundtrack also comes featuring a cross-section of previously released cuts, including tracks from DJ Shadow and Run the Jewels, Skrillex, Cher, Dolly Parton, Peter Gabriel and more.

The score was arranged by composer Tyler Bates, who has previously provided the score for Watchmen, Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Deadpool 2 director David Leitch’s first two films, John Wick and Atomic Blonde.
So each of these above-mentioned songs turn up the volume of violence and gives it a funny-bizarre side. Like the uncredited cameo of Brad Pitt is boosted with the song “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC. The song starts to play when Deadpool and his X-Force jump out from a chopper but fail to survive in the land and everyone other than Domino and Deadpool himself die in the course of landing. Brad Pitt makes a momentary cameo as Vanisher and gets stuck in the electric lines and dies. All these while AC/DC’s metal song is running in the background. Spoiler Alert!
At a certain point of the film there’s Cable, Deadpool, Domino and Dopinder travel in his taxi for the final showdown and in the background runs the song ‘”Yuhi Chala Chal” from the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Bollywood film Swades. When Cable demands to turn off the music, Deadpool resists and calls him a racist for not taking Dopinder’s Indian feelings seriously.

Marvel has always been selective in the process of adding music to their films which suits the situation and scenes. One good example to point out here is their earlier release, Black Panther. Featuring most African-American singers and composers, the film roped Rappster Kendrick Lamar for its Official Soundtrack. The film used traditional music and instruments of South Africa to lighten up the mood of the film.
In a casual talk to Variety, Deadpool 2 music composer Tyler Bates said that “It was pretty funny between the men singing the word ‘f—‘ in harmony, and getting the cadence of ‘holy s— balls’ to really work with the music. It wasn’t merit-less debauchery, it was just fun. It’s very rare that we can work on something at such a high professional level that embraces the irreverence of Deadpool.”
