Ajith Has Become More Humble: Actor Vivek

Three days after the release of Yennai Arindhaal, Vijay TV telecast a special show called Ajith Best Moments.

While the Yennai Arindhaal team was busy granting myriad interviews, no outlet could get hold of the elusive star – Ajith. But Ajith Best Moments – featuring Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arun Vijay, and Vivekh – more than made up for his absence, offering interesting anecdotes about the star, and also about the movie.

  • Apparently, even before the shooting of Yennai Arindhaal could begin, Ajith would often tell GVM that the film would be a game-changer for many on the team.
  • GVM admitted that he was intimidated by Ajith’s fandom. “But Ajith sir didn’t let me feel that pressure.”
  •  Unakkenna Venum Sollu is GVM’s favourite song from the album.
  • While filming Adhaaru Udhaaru, GVM’s spirit was so lifted by the folk music (particularly thaara thappatai) that he joined the thousands of dancers who grooved to the song on the set. So, GVM does appear in Adhaaru Udhaaru, but is lost amid a sea of humanity.
  • GVM chose to include dialogues that would satiate Ajith’s die-hard fans. However, the actor insisted that any reference to himself and the word ‘Thala’ should be avoided or toned down. “I am Sathyadev in the film, not Ajith,” were his exact words.
  • Vivek observed that Ajith has become more humble. “He is happy that the film received the grandest opening. Ajith also told me, ‘Indha success thalaila yethikka koodathu.’ Paarunga adha Thalaiye solludhu!” he quipped.
  • GVM also revealed that Ajith and Arun Vijay performed the stunts live. “I specifically asked Stunt Silva to make it look very Hollywood. We used no ropes. And, the scenes looked more real because of the body language of Ajith sir and Arun.”
  • The director might make a sequel to Yennai Arindhaal, “if the film does well.”
  • For the first time, GVM confessed that he would like to make an English film starring Tamil actors. “Ajith would be my first choice to play the lead.” No surprises there.
