AYM Finally Wraps Up Shooting, Gautham Menon Thanks Silambarasan

The team had recently travelled to Bangkok for a song’s shoot. The film was supposed to be released on 9 September but was postponed due to the shoot of ‘Thallipogathey’. The film which was originally scheduled to be completed in October last year had been stalled owing to the actor’s other commitments. The director even went on record stating that he may have to drop the song.

Gautham Menon had planned to shoot the song in Turkey, after completing the shoot for the song ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thota’. However, he said, “Naga Chaitanya, the lead actor of the Telugu version turned up for the shoot. But Simbu never did. We tried contacting him. That’s when he told us that we can shoot it in Chennai. I’m still waiting for him. If he shoots the song, we can see it on screen. If not, the fans will have to forgive me.”

‘Thalli Pogathey’, composed by AR Rahman, first featured in a short teaser of the film. Following a positive response from fans, the song was released online on 16 January, and became a hit.

AYM stars Silambarasan, Manjima Mohan, Rana Daggubati, Sathish Krishnan, and Baba Seghal. Produced by Photon Kathaas, the technical cast includes cinematographer Dan Mcarthur and editor Anthony.

Meanwhile, with their differences aside, the team is now aiming for a new release date. Silambarasan, who has never shied from making statements, recently spoke up about the Cauvery issue between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. With several members of the south Indian fraternity receiving flak for speaking their mind on the issue, Silambarasan had stated that he would not say anything on record.

“I’m currently in Thailand, completing the last leg of the shoot for my film Acham Yenbathu Madamaiyada. Today I was informed by well-wishers, as well as my father, about my ‘apparent’ comment on the sensitive Cauvery issue. As a responsible citizen I’m aware of my role and clearly understand my limits too. I have not made or given any statement on this issue.  This is an issue between two states and not a platform for artists to engage in propaganda or take lightly. The elected leaders of both states with the support of the judiciary will provide us a solution. The best we can do is to pray for a good monsoon that can provide prosperity and peace to both the states,” he said.
